The Fireworks in Daylight images are the result of the celebration of St. Andrew’s Day, an annual occurrence on Nov. 30th. in Amalfi, Italy. They represent a personal celebration of Burson’s journey in discovering through DNA that she may be distantly related to St. Andrew.
The images from this event represent the connection between the Saint and the residents of Amalfi who rejoice in celebration of that day. The reliquary that holds most of St. Andrew’s bones lies in his huge cathedral there. Above his bones there’s a crystal vitrine which collects a liquid form of Manna. It’s then poured onto cotton and given to parishioners as a healing substance. When there’s an abundance of Manna manifested by his bones, it’s considered a harbinger of good times to come. Burson notes that these images represent a sign of optimism and hopefulness ahead for each of us.
